BANIHAL, Sept 12: National Conference leader and MLA Banihal, Sajjad Shaheen today kick-started the macadamisation of several key roads in Banihal constituency, marking a significant step towards strengthening road infrastructure in the region.
The initiative aims to provide improved connectivity and ease of travel to the people of the area. As a part of programme, the Banihal–Lamber and Banihal–Dooligam roads were taken up today, in addition to other stretches among the nine approved roads under the Banihal–Gool constituency plan. These works are expected to enhance accessibility to far-flung villages and ensure safer, faster, and smoother movement for commuters.
Addressing the media, MLA Shaheen reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to all-weather connectivity and time-bound completion of projects. He observed that Banihal, long deprived of quality infrastructure, is now witnessing unprecedented attention to development under the present dispensation.
Shaheen extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary for their unwavering support and commitment to rural development, stating that their focus has opened new avenues of growth for Banihal and other remote areas.
Highlighting the broader developmental landscape, the MLA said that Banihal–Gool constituency is passing through a revolutionary phase of progress, with numerous projects sanctioned under different schemes over the past ten months by the Omar Abdullah-led Government.
Reiterating his resolve to pursue development with missionary zeal, Shaheen said that priority sectors such as Education, Health, Power, Road infrastructure, Jal Shakti, Tourism, and Social Welfare will remain at the centre of his efforts. He further assured the people that no stone will be left unturned to bridge the developmental gap caused by years of misrepresentation by previously elected people.
