ANANTNAG, Feb 4: On the auspicious occasion of Surya Saptami, marking the birthday of the Sun God (Martand Dev), a team of volunteers from Martand KP Brigade Charitable Trust (MKPBCT) today paid their respects at the Tirath Raj Martand Temple in Mattan, Anantnag.
Before the migration of the Kashmiri Pandit community, this day was traditionally celebrated at the Martand Temple, where the Sun God is revered as the 13th incarnation through two sacred springs, Vimal and Kamal Kund.
A Havan ceremony was conducted by the Purohit Sabha Martand Tirath Trust as part of the celebrations.
Volunteers from MKPBCT actively participated in the rituals, offered their services, and also took a holy bath.
In a display of reverence, they offered milk and bhog (food offerings) to the Mattan Nag.
The MKPBCT volunteers prayed for the well-being of humanity and sought Martand Dev’s blessings for the welfare of the universe.
