MJR47 delegation discusses issues of DPs, Sikhs with LG

JAMMU, Sept 22: A delegation of MJR47 (Movement for Justice for Refugees of 1947 from PoJK) and Sikh intellectuals led by Charanjit Singh Khalsa, former BJP MLC today met Lt Governor of J&K Manoj Sinha and projected issues of displaced people of 1947 and Sikh community.
A memorandum enumerating several issues including discrimination with Punjabi language was presented to the Lt Governor. Other issues projected in the memo were implementation of R&R measures recommended by the DRPSC on Home Affairs, Government of India vide its report number 183 dated 22nd December 2014 and inclusion of 5,300 DP families of 1947 which are settled outside (and duly registered with PRO Jammu) in the Financial Package and also in the final settlement of DPs of 1947.
They also demanded grant of proprietary rights for the of the small plots of land allotted in the camps/basties to DPs, opening up at least 8 Assembly seats out of the 24 seats kept frozen for the voters of PoJK areas, inclusion of Punjabi language in the recently issued order of official languages of the J&K UT and establishment of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Chair in University of Jammu and construction of Guru Nanak Bhawan in Jammu City.
The LG gave a patient hearing to the delegation members and told that action is still pending to be taken on the recommendations of DRPSC for relief to DPs and will be taken up. He also assured them positive action on issues of setting up of Guru Nanak Chair and construction of Guru Nanak Bhawan. He asked for a detailed representation on delimitation issue.
J S Sudan, Suchwant Singh and Om Prakash Khajuria were also part of the delegation.
