JAMMU, July 6: MJR-47, Movement for Justice for Refugees of 1947 from PoJK has expressed strong resentment against the Government for inaction on the issues of the Displaced Persons (DPs) of PoJK.
In a meeting of the members of the MJR-47 held today the members expressed deep concern on the total inaction on the issues of DPs of1947 since last 4-5 years on the follow up of the recommendations already made by the then State Govt and Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs, Govt of India.
Though keeping his words as announced by Narendra Modi in an election rally at Hiranagar, in 2014 before General Elections, a token relief of Rs 2,000 crores were provided in the PM’s Development Package for J&K announced in Nov 2015, yet the subsequent govts of State have not taken any actions to implement the recommendations already made by State Govt and DRPSC since 2014. The latest dispensation of BJP-PDP in the State Govt had further damaged our cause even by reducing the cash relief to Rs 5.5 lakhs from Rs 30 lakhs and Rs 25 lakhs per family as recommended respectively by DRPSC on MoHA, GoI and previous State Govt.
Even out of this total amount of State Govt has not even paid its share of paltry sum of Rs 308 per family to DPs in the last 4 years since sanction of Rs. 5.5 Lakhs by GoI in Dec 2016. The State Govt has not even bothered and deliberately not been responding to the queries and clarifications asked by MoHA, GoI. Even repeated reminders to Secy (Rev) J&K Govt and Divisional Commissioner Jammu, have been issued by MoHA, GoI but no reply or response has been given to these resulting case file of DPs with MoHA, GoI are still pending for final action.
On imposing Governor rule in J&K, our hopes had revived but no action was taken. Now, after conversion of State to UT, the situation remains same though all political biased and interventions have vanished. There is a general feeling that the UT Administration will fast deliver justice and solve long pending issues without any bias or undue delay. But unfortunately, no action is being taken on the issues like reservation for wards of DPs, de-freezing of 8 Assembly seats for PoJK DPs, special employment package, registration of all descendants families of DPs of 1947 including all leftover families etc.
The recent order for grant of domicile status for all erstwhile residents of J&K state and their dependents residing outside the state has come out as a farce for DPs of 1947 living outside the state. The order neither clearly states to include the DPs of 1947 nor the formats for application process facilitate to even file application by DPs, the members added.
