JAMMU, May 7: In a significant step towards promoting mental wellness and supporting rehabilitation efforts under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Mission Shakti District Hub for Empowerment of Women Jammu, Department of Social Welfare today organized a special meditation and awareness session at the Police Drug De-Addiction Centre.
The programme aimed to encourage emotional healing, stress management, self-discipline and the adoption of a positive and drug-free lifestyle among the participants undergoing recovery and rehabilitation. The programme was efficiently coordinated by District Mission Coordinator Mission Shakti Shagun Manchanda, who emphasized the importance of community support, mental strength and continuous motivation in helping individuals overcome addiction and reintegrate into society as responsible citizens.
Meditation expert Dr Manisha Gupta, Department Ayush conducted an engaging meditation and motivational session focusing on mental peace, emotional stability, positive thinking and inner healing. During her interaction with the participants, she highlighted how meditation and mindfulness practices can play a vital role in reducing stress, controlling negative thoughts, improving self-confidence and preventing relapse into substance abuse.
The programme was attended by Dr Shahnaz Butt, Director Police Drug De-Addiction Centre, Dr Gulnaz, Medical Officer, and Dr Sushil Bhat ,Medical Officer Ayush who appreciated the efforts of Mission Shakti in addressing both the psychological and social aspects of addiction recovery.
They stressed that rehabilitation requires not only medical treatment but also emotional support, awareness and positive engagement activities that help individuals rebuild their lives with dignity and purpose.
