JAMMU, May 20: Mission Shakti District Hub for Empowerment of Women Jammu, Department of Social Welfare J&K, in collaboration with Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Jammu (Samba)-PDUNIPPD, New Delhi under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, and Pradhan Mantri Divyasha Kendra (PMDK), organised an Aids and Assistive Devices Distribution Camp under the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) at Gurha Manhasan, Pargwal, Jammu.
The initiative aimed at enhancing the quality of life of elderly citizens by providing them with essential prosthetic aids and assistive devices, thereby promoting accessibility, mobility, independence, and inclusive welfare.
The outreach programme specifically focused on senior citizens above the age of 60 years residing in remote areas of Jammu district. During the camp, 33 beneficiaries were provided with assistive devices including wheelchairs, hearing aids, walking sticks, crutches, and other supportive appliances tailored to their individual needs.
The distribution was carried out to ensure improved mobility and rehabilitation support for the elderly population.
The camp was organized under the supervision of District Mission Coordinator Mission Shakti Shagun Manchanda and Administrative Officer, CRC Jammu Naveen Gupta, and under the guidance of Director CRC Jammu Dr. Rohnika Sharma. Among others present on the occasion were Rahul Singh, Rehabilitation Officer, CRC Jammu; Dr. Hasnian Khan, P&O; Rahul Singh, PMDK; and Khushboo Kapte, Gender Specialist, DHEW.
