JAMMU, July 17: “The strengths of the poor community is becoming strong with the initiatives of Umeed Project and we are very happy to see the glow and confidence levels among the poor women who earlier never came out from their house”.
The Mission Director of Umeed, Nagaland, Mr Lote, who visited Jammu region along with his eight members team, said this while turning back to his place.
The Nagaland Mission Director along with his team visited Jammu Umeed Project to learn the process of project implementation.
On the first day the NRLM State representatives Yogitarana, Manickraaj and Arun Manhas, AMD Umeed, Jammu through power point presentation shared the things going on in Jammu region under Umeed Project.
The team in its four days trip visited Bishnah and Basohli blocks of Jammu region and interacted with the SHG and Village Organisation leaders.
The team focussed to learn the process of VO formation and the Books being maintained by the SHG and VOs in Umeed Project of Jammu region.
During the visit of the Kotli Charakan, The Nagaland Mission Director inaugurated the borewell.
The team visited Mahanpur village of Kathua district. They also visited the community houses who had taken loan from the SHGs for livelihood purpose. They asked the beneficiaries about their income and expenditure of their livelihoods and the repayment details.
The team also visited Basohli and interacted with the community trainers, mobilizers and cluster coordinators of the particular block and came to know the process of selection.
During their visit to Basohli, the team members appreciated the skill and art of local people when they come across the Basohli paintings and Pasmani shawls.
Apart from the community interactions in two blocks of Jammu, the Nagaland team visited Himayat centre in Jammu district and interacted with the trainees. They, during their visit also came to know the MIS of Umeed project by which all the project related information can be viewed through on line.
Arun Manhas, Additional Mission Director, Umeed along with his staff accompanied the Nagaland team.
