Jammu, Dec 11: Acting swiftly on the directions of the Government, Revenue Department in District Jammu has traced the Lathas and Mussavis for most of the villages, where the records were reportedly missing or dilapidated. A committee headed by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jammu carried out an extensive physical audit of the Lathas/ Mussavis of all the 915 revenue villages in the district last month, and it came to fore that record for over 150 villages were either missing or dilapidated due to wear and tear over time, hampering effective public service delivery and causing inconvenience to the land owners.
Directions were issued by the DC Jammu to the field teams headed by SDMs for tracing these records from reliable sources, in pursuance to which over 95% of these missing/dilapidated records have been traced and duly incorporated in the revenue records. Further an action plan for reconstruction of the remaining Mussavis on the basis of field records available in the Record room & other Govt. Departments has also been formulated and put in place for time bound completion.
As part of Digital India Land Record Modernization programme (DILRMP), updation of Jamabandies in being monitored on daily basis in the district and as against 675 Jamabandies updated upto March, 2021, Jamabandies for 867 villages stand updated as on date. Thus, more than 95% of the revenue record in the District stands updated in a Mission Mode approach. This includes around 100 villages like Jammu Khas, Domana and Nowabad etc. where the record has been updated after almost seven decades.
Simultaneously digitization of these Jamabandies is under way for online delivery of services of the revenue department including issuance of Fard and attestation of mutations under the close supervision of Chief Secretary, J&K. As on date 642 Jamabandies stand digitized in the district out of which 270 have been digitized since April this year and the remaining are due for time bound digitization. Records for the digitized Jamabandies are now available for viewing by the land owners in multiple languages including English and Hindi on the Revenue department’s online portal landrecords.jk.gov.in.
All these initiatives are aimed at doorstep delivery of services to enable good governance and provide transparent & hassle free services by the Revenue Department, as per the directions of the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, J&K.
