Miscreants open fire in air, loot Rs 18 lakh

JAMMU, Oct 3: In a rare broad day light robbery, two motorcycle borne miscreants opened fire in air and looted Rs 18 lakh from a cash transaction vehicle of Checkmate Securities near busiest Bahu Plaza area, falling under the jurisdiction of Bahu Fort Police Station.
As per police sources, a cash transaction vehicle of Checkmate Securities carrying Rs 45 lakh collected from the office of Flipkart–online sale company near Military Station at Sunjwan was on its way to Axis Bank at Bahu Plaza to deposit the cash, when two miscreants on motorcycle intercepted the vehicle near Vishal Mega Mart in Bahu Plaza area this afternoon.
The miscreants opened fire in air and tried to escape with the cash, but the persons traveling in the cash transaction vehicle intercepted them.
“The persons traveling in the cash transaction vehicle and miscreants had scuffle in which the plastic bag containing Rs 45 lakh cash got opened. The miscreants managed to take away Rs 18 lakh out of total of Rs 45 lakh”, sources added.
On the complaint of Yash Pal, Incharge Checkmate Securities, a case under FIR Number 230/17 relevant Sections 341 and 382 RPC and 3/25 Arms Act has been registered at Bahu Fort Police Station and hunt has been launched to nab the accused.
When contacted SDPO East Arun Jamwal told the Excelsior that the miscreants looted Rs 18 lakh out of Rs 45 lakh, which was in the cash transaction vehicle. He added that out of two miscreants, one was wearing turban.
“The cash transaction vehicle was without security guard of which the miscreants took benefit and decamped with cash. We have launched manhunt to arrest them”, Jamwal maintained.
However, no arrest was made till last reports were compiled.
SHO Trikuta Nagar Bharat Sharma led police teams have started manhunt for the cash snatchers. Further investigations in the case were on.
