MELBOURNE, Mar 22: Miranda Kerr has been replaced by Asian Australian model Jessica Gomes as the face of departmental store chain David Jones.
The retailer officially announced Kerr is leaving after five years, to be substituted by 27-year-old Gomes, still a celebrity newcomer when it comes to the big world of ambassador life, reported Vogue Australia.
The swimwear and underwear model – who has graced the Sports llustrated pages many times – is well known in fashion circles but has yet to hit the heights of instant public recognition.
Half Portuguese and half Singaporean-Chinese, Gomes was born and raised in Perth.
“I’m really proud to be Australian and I’m proud to be half Asian. I love Asia, and I love how that it’s a big part of the economy. I think it’s fantastic that Australia is using more ethnic girls now, and so they should – we are a very multicultural country so I think we should embrace all beauties,” Gomes said.
She will join David Jones long-time brand ambassador Megan Gale, menswear ambassador Jason Dundas, new youth Ambassador Montana Cox, and racing ambassadors Gai Waterhouse and Emma Freedman, who are all in the retail stable. (PTI(
