Mir Zahoor inspects Stock Assistant Training Institute at Belicharana

JAMMU: Minister of State for Forest, Environment, Animal & Sheep Husbandry, Cooperative and Fisheries, Mir Zahoor Ahmad, today inspected the Stock Assistant Training Institute, at Belicharana here.

Interacting with the trainers, Mir Zahoor exhorted upon them to optimally utilize the technical knowhow and managerial skills learned in this training programme to further sharp their skills and efficiency for better outcome. “Such trainings should be organized on regular basis so as to update the knowledge and expertise of existing manpower in the department”, he added.

The Minister directed the officers to work with utmost dedication and provide quality training to the aspirants so that they can deliver best services to the beneficiaries. He also asked them to adopt technologically advanced innovations to enhance the live stock production besides extending requisite services to cattle rearers at their door steps so as to achieve self-sufficiency in milk, mutton, dairy and poultry production.

During his tour, Mir Zahoor visited Chief Animal Husbandry Office and Joint Director Farms and took stock of the activities of these Units. He also inspected Feed Mill in the Farm and took stock of its functioning.

Taking stock of cattle available in the farm, the authorities briefed the Minister about various breeds being reared in the centre. It was informed that there is a special breed of Sahiwal quality available in this Farm.

Later, the Minister convened a meeting with the officials of Animal Husbandry Department to take stock of progress on several works done in different sectors.

Earlier, Principal of the Institute, M K Bhat, briefed the Minister about the activities and achievements of the organization. He informed that training is being imparted to Stock Assistants in artificial insemination and other treatments besides poultry and dairy awareness.

Among others, Director AH Jammu Dr S K Abrol, Joint Directors of Farms and Poultry besides other officers were present on the occasion.
