Mir reviews progress of Raghunath Bazaar beautification project

JAMMU, Aug 8: Minister for Tourism Ghulam Ahmed Mir has approved the design of the ornamental moulding of the electric poles to be installed in Raghunath Bazaar under Raghunath Bazaar beautification and modernization project.
The Minister was chairing a review meeting of Raghunath Bazaar beautification and modernization project here today.
The two ornamental mouldings of the electric poles have already been installed in Raghunath Bazaar on trial basis. The Minister asked the executing agencies to complete the installation work of ornamental moulding electric poles at the earliest.
The Minister had a detailed review of the status of work on the project taken up to beautify and develop the heritage market around the historical Raghunath Temple.
Various issues related to ornamental moulding of Poles, PVC Cable, renovation, shifting of underground BSNL Cables for the development of Raghunath Bazaar area, etc were discussed.
He stressed that the concerned departments should work in coordination to ensure time bound completion of the on-going works.
Giving details of the project, Director Tourism Jammu Soujanya Sharma said that the total cost of the project is Rs. 676.90 lakh, out of which an amount of Rs. 397 lakhs has been made available to the executing agencies during the year 2009-10 to 2014-15.
It was informed in the meeting that music system will be installed at different selected places in Raghunath Bazaar, which will give sweet music and also create awareness among the visitors about security related matters through announcement.
BSNL has to provide underground cable connection with latest technology providing broadband/internet facilities to the shops. The PHE is charged with installing five fire hydrants, 10 public water supply posts with antique look of lion face, he said, adding that PWD will lay Dholpuri red stones on footpath.
Among others, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Shantmanu, Deputy Commissioner Jammu Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Director Tourism Jammu Soujanya Sharma, Chief Engineer PDD Shahnaz Goni, Chief Engineer R&B A. H. Sheikh, Chief Engineer PHE Sushil Aima, S.E PHE Sunil Gupta, ADDC Jammu G. N. Balwan, GM BSNL A. K. Mishra, DGM/BSNL Kulbhushan Sharma, other concerned were present in the meeting.
