Mir for developing Mantalai as major tourist destination

UDHAMPUR, Sept 26: For suggesting measures for preservation and upgrading infrastructural facilities at Mantalai so as to develop it as popular tourist destination, Minister for Tourism, G. A Mir, who is also the chairman of Consultative Committee for Tourism, convened a meeting with members of Consultative Committee at Patnitop here today.
MLA, Chenani, Krishan Bhagat, MLA, Bashir Ahmed Shah Veeri, MLCs, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Rani Garg Blowria and Ravinder Kumar Sharma, Commissioner Tourism, Atal Duloo, Managing Director JKTDC, Director Tourism, Jammu, Soujayna Sharma, Chief Executive Officer PDA, Dr. Raman Kesar, representative of M/s Jones Lang La Salla Property Consultant were present in the meeting.
Responding to the suggestions given by the members of the Consultative Committee for the preservation of property of Dhirendra Brahmchari Ashram at Mantalai, the Minister said that Mantalai is suitable for providing major growth impetus for tourism promotion. For the propose, Mir gave directions for preparing detail project report for the renovation of existing infrastructure at Mantalai. He asked the Director Tourism to prepare short term plan for providing basic facilities to the pilgrims and promoting adventure tourism.
The Minister directed to make for documentation regarding the history and life of Late Dhirendra Brahmchari  so that it can be available for next generation for references and record. He asserted on making every effort to preserve the photographs available about the Ashram with modern techniques.
Responding to the demand of the MLA Chenani, Mir instructed on preparing DPR for the construction of Benisung -Karva-Mantalai road for nearest connectivity to the tourist destination of Mantalai from Tehsil Chenani.
Later, the Minister alongwith members of Consultative Committee visited Mantalai for on spot assessment of  property of Dhirendra Brahmchari Ashram and took stock of the current status of the land and infrastructure available with the concerned department for developing tourist spot.
Earlier, Director Tourism, Soujanya gave power point presentation prepared by State level Project Management Agency for exploration and the development of Mantalai.
