Mir Behri craves for basic facilities

SRINAGAR, Aug 27: Scores of residents of Mir Behri area of Saidakadal said that successive Government has neglected the area despite living in the heart of city here.
They said that the area has been neglected on every development front over the decades. People here face the crisis of very basic facilities of road, water, electricity, healthcare, education and sanitation.
“The area is comprised of nearly 40 thousand people that has became victim of government apathy and local leaders casual attitude towards the area,” said Nasir Hussain, a local said.
He said the area has been fighting for the basic human rights for last few decades, but till date Government has failed to address them.
The locals also said that two children lost their lives after a dilapidated ‘Janta Kadal’ bridge collapsed last year, when the Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar was being accompanied by a large public procession.
They said due to the unknown reason the road was left halfway because of which locals have to face hardships while carrying out daily chores.
“The road was not completed beyond Aabi Gurpura to Kani Kachi,” they said, adding, the remaining part from Kani Kachi to Moti Mohalla was left untouched.
The locals said that Kani Kachi Kadal and Lati Kadal have been left on the mercy of God as these have not been repaired for last five decades.
