Minor’s death due to alleged negligence sparks protest, case registered

JAMMU, Aug 1: Minor boy’s death due to alleged negligence of the hospital authorities in Jourian area of the Akhnoor has sparked protest by victim’s family members, relatives and locals.
As per police sources, 13-year-old Mukesh Kumar of Chak Malal, Khour was admitted in Jourian Health Centre for treatment of snake bite.
The hospital staff gave least importance to the case due to which the minor boy died while being shifting to GMCH Jammu.
As the death of the minor boy spread, local people along with relatives and family members of the deceased assembled on Akhnoor-Jourian road and held protest against the hospital administration. The protestors also blocked the vehicular movement on the Akhnoor-Jourian road by burning the tyres.
The protestors were demanding immediate arrest of the doctor behind the death of the minor boy. They also manhandled the doctor during protest at Jourian Health Centre.
After getting information, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Akhnoor along with senior police officers rushed to the spot and assured the protesting people of taking strict action against the person(s) behind the death of the minor.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed and vehicular movement was restored on the Akhnoor-Jourian road.
A senior police officer said that a case under relevant sections has been registered at Akhnoor Police Station and investigation started to ascertain the exact cause of minor’s death.
