Minor killed in blast

Srinagar, Sept 4: A minor boy was killed while his mother was injured after a bomb went off at their residence in Ladoora area of Rafiabad in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district today.
A police officer told Excelsior that 13 year old Junaid Ahmad Dar was killed when he was fiddling with an explosive in Ladoora village. He said the boy had brought the shell from the debris of a house which was razed to ground during an encounter between security forces and a Lashkar-e-Islam militants two days ago.
The boy was fiddling with the shell in presence of his mother at their home when it went off causing injuries to the duo. They were rushed to District Hospital Baramulla but the boy was declared as brought dead by the doctors. The mother of the slain is under treatment at the hospital.
The police officer said that they had erected the concertina wire around the encounter site and whenever they came to sanitize the location, the locals pelted stones on them. “As you know there was shutdown and we came twice to clear the area but locals resorted to stone-pelting,” he said.
