RAMBAN, Apr 30: A minor boy here today died on the spot after being hit by a loaded truck near Jaswal Bridge, Karool on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
Cops at Police Station Chanderkote received telephonic information that a rashly driven truck bearing registration number JK02CD-5186 while on way to Kashmir from Jammu hit a pedestrian who died on the spot.
The deceased was identified as Asif Hussain, 12, son of Bashir Ahmed, resident of Thanari, Chanderkote.
Driver of the vehicle involved in the accident fled away from the spot leaving behind his vehicle and cops were making efforts to arrest him.
Body of the deceased boy was shifted to mortuary of District Hospital Ramban for post-mortem and other legal formalities.
Police has registered a case in FIR number 21 of 2025, in this regard under Sections 281/125 BNS at Police Station Chanderkote and started investigation.
