KISHTWAR, Mar 25: A minor girl died due to non-availability of staff at Primary Health Centre (PHC) Keeru. However, the locals in anguish locked the PHC.
As per police sources, due to non-availability of doctors and ambulance, a six-year-old girl namely Asifa, daughter of Hassan of Pathernaki died.
Locals alleged that due to non availability of doctors and ambulance, the minor died while being shifted to District Hospital Kishtwar.
The locals locked the PHC Keeru to express their anguish and seeking action against the staff of Centre.
DDC member Nagseni Faisal Hussain said that neither the staff was available in PHC Keeru nor the ambulance driver acted in time, which led to death of poor child. He said that this is not first such incidence had taken place.
Despite repeated requests, the concerned authorities failed to ensure regular presence of doctors and other para medical staff in PHC Keeru, he added.
“PHC Keeru is of most importance as thousands of local people are working in mega hydro electric projects, being constructed in the area”, a local said, adding that for minor treatments, they have to visit District Hospital Kishtwar.
The locals demanded full-fledged staff at PHC Keeru so as to save precious lives.
When contacted, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ashok K Sharma said that a magisterial inquiry has been ordered to probe the matter and whosoever will be found guilty will be dealt as per law.
