SRINAGAR, July 13: Following Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s instructions, Ministers visited various districts of Kashmir valley to monitor the ground situation and ensure that people don’t face any inconvenience for want of essential commodities.
Minister for Finance, Dr Haseeb Drabu visited District Hospital Pulwama to personally take stock of the medicare facilities and also enquire about the welfare of the injured. He was accompanied by Minister of State for Forests and Fisheries, Mir Zahoor Ahmad and Legislator, Mohammad Khalil Bandh.
He interacted with the patients and their attendants and assured them of all possible assistance from the Government. He said any patient who requires specialized treatment will be shifted outside the State by the Government.
The Minister also enquired from the hospital staff regarding urgent requirement of blood, medicines and medical equipment, which he said would be arranged by the Government on priority. He said latest diagnostic facilities including an MRI machine, body analyzer other machinery would be provided at the hospital.
Earlier, the Minister also reviewed the law and order situation and took stock of the supply position in the district at an officers meeting. He was informed that there are adequate stocks of rations and LPG available in the district and the Consumer Affairs and the Public Distribution Department has been asked to open all its sale outlets in the district immediately to ensure that the people don’t face any inconvenience for want of rations. He also reviewed supply of power and drinking water position in the district.
The Minister also visited various parts of the town and while interacting with the locals, made a fervent appeal to them, especially the youth for maintaining calm. He said the Government will address the genuine concerns and aspirations of the youth and a comprehensive policy framework would be worked out to ensure productive employment for the educated unemployed.
Minister for Public Works, Abdul Rehman Veeri visited Anantnag and sought people’s cooperation on various fronts to normalize the situation in the Kashmir valley.
Chairing a joint meeting of the officers of the district administration, police and the representatives of various political parties, the Minister urged upon the people in general and the youth in particular to contribute in bringing an end to the vicious cycle of violence.
Legislators Gulzar Ahmad Wani and Sofi Yousuf, besides Deputy Commissioner Anantnag and other district officers were present at the meeting. He asked the law and order enforcing authorities to exercise maximum restraint while dealing with protestors to prevent further loss of lives. He directed the officers of the district administration to ensure availability of the essentials to the people.
Minister for Revenue, Relief & Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bukhari convened a meeting with district administration Baramulla to take stock of the law and order and supply position of essentials in the district.
He directed the administration to ensure availability of all essential commodities in the district besides supply of uninterrupted electricity and drinking water. He also directed for round the clock functioning of health institutions besides availability of medicines and paramedical staff.
Minister of State for Hajj and Auqaf, PHE and Irrigation, Flood Control, Industries and Commerce, Syed Farooq Andrabi during visit to Kulgam called for joint efforts to restore peace and normalcy.
“Every citizen has stakes in peace and tranquility and as such it becomes our shared duty to contribute in restoring peace and prevent further loss of human lives”, the Minister said while chairing a joint meeting of civil society and district officers.
Member of Parliament, Nazir Ahmad Laway, Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Showkat Aijaz, SSP Kulgam, Mohammad Irshad, members of civil society and district officers attended the meeting. The Minister highlighted the need for strengthening the peace restoration process and consolidating measures to safeguard civilian life and property, even as he stressed on discouraging violence and vandalism.
