JAMMU: Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment, Choudhary Lal Singh today said the Government has prepared a detailed project report for demarcation and fencing of forest land across the State to ensure protection of forests.
Addressing the gathering after inspecting Forest Nursery at Nomain village in Katra of Reasi district, the Minister asked the officers concerned to take adequate measures to combat forest fire broke out in Trikuta hills of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi.
Divisional Forest Officers have been directed for regular patrolling of forests in their respective areas to identify mischievous elements so that action can be taken against them under the Forest Protection Act, he added.
He, however, directed the officers to plant saplings on open chunk of forest land and along the Domail-Katra road and said protection of forests and wildlife should be priority of the department and concerted efforts should be made to save this green treasure. (AGENCIES)
