Mining contractors booked for extortion, assault

KATHUA, July 19: Kathua police has registered two FIRs against mining contractors and their allies in two different incidents today.
Police said yesterday four persons namely Bhanu Partap Singh of Madapur, tehsil Hiranagar, Ravinder Singh of Dinanagar, Rajat Singh of Pathankot and Sunil Singh of Delhi along with 10 other persons holding deadly weapons entered in the office of Devi Dyal (owner of stone crusher) and demanded money from him.
On refusal by the crusher owner to pay money they assaulted him. On the basis of complaint of Devi Dayal, a case FIR No. 131/2021 U/S 323/506/504/ 452/147/148/149 IPC and 3/25,4/25 Arms Act has been lodged at Police Station (PS) Rajbagh against the accused persons.
While in another case four persons namely Bhanu Partap Singh of Madapur tehsil Hiranagar, Ravinder Singh of Dinanagar, Rajat Singh of Pathankot and Sunil Singh of Delhi along with eight others holding deadly weapons and restrained the way of Shashi at NHW Chadwal and assaulted him for which a case FIR No. 132/2021 U/S 341/323/506/ 504/147/ 148/149 IPC and 3/25,4/25 Arms Act has been registered at PS Rajbagh against them. Later on all the persons have been arrested by IC Police Post Chadwal and seized one Mahindra vehicle bearing Registration Number JK08K-0017 and Scorpio bearing Registration Number PB35N-0553. Police recovered one Base Ball, one sharp edge weapon along with one Air Pistol (Black In Color) and further investigation into this matter is going on.
