SAMBA, Feb 11: Mini-Bus Unions held protest against the employees of Sarore Toll Plaza for misbehaving with mini-bus driver viz demanding toll tax.
The protestors said that Deputy Commissioner (DC) Samba had exempted toll tax for the vehicles plying within the radius of 20 kilometers of the Sarore Toll Plaza, but the employees of the Toll Plaza are demanding toll tax from the mini-buses plying within the mentioned radius.
As per police sources, the employees of the Sarore Toll Plaza misbehaved with a mini-bus driver and demanded toll tax.
As the news of misbehave and demanding toll tax spread, the members of the Mini-Bus Unions from Vijaypur, Bari Brahmana and its adjoining routes assembled at Sarore Toll Plaza and held protest. They blocked the vehicular movement on the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway at Sarore Toll Plaza and raised slogans against the employees of the Sarore Toll Plaza and District Administration Samba.
While speaking, the members of the Mini-Buses Unions said that earlier they met DC Samba, who exempted the toll tax for the vehicles including mini-buses plying within the radius of the 20 kilometers of Sarore Toll Plaza.
“An employee of Sarore Toll Plaza last evening misbehaved with the mini-bus driver and demanded toll tax”, they said, adding that the when DC Samba had exempted the toll tax for the vehicles plying within the radius of the 20 kilometers of Sarore Toll Plaza then in which capacity the employees of the Toll Plaza are demanding toll tax from the mini-buses.
On getting information about the protest viz halting of vehicular movement on the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway, ADC Samba along with Additional SP Samba Feisal Qureshi and SDM Vijaypur reached the spot and tried to pacify the protestors.
The officers assured the protestors that the vehicles including mini-buses plying within the radius of the 20 kilometers of the Sarore Toll Plaza need not to pay toll tax.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed and vehicular movement was restored on the National Highway.
However, the cops have to face tough time for couple of hours to clear the jamming of the halted vehicles.
Among others present were Suram Singh, Love Kumar, Raj Kumar and Parveen Kumar.
