Militants attack minority picket

Srinagar, Aug 3: Militants tonight fired at a police picket guarding minority community at Haripari Tral in South Kashmir district of Pulwama.
The security guards fired back and the militants fled away. However, there was no loss of life or injury on either side. Reports said that five militants attacked the picket.
Army and Police immediately rushed to the spot and launched operations against the militants who attacked the picket.
In the meantime, Police today detained six persons including a police constable to investigate an assault on Indian Reserve Police (IRP) personnel at Pattan town in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The attack on IRP constable, Firdous Ahmad Baba at Pattan yesterdays left him seriously injured and his service rifle was also snatched.
Police raided several houses in the area and picked up six persons including a policeman. The detained persons have been identified as Moin Peer, Ishfaq Ahmad, Mohammad Saleem, Umar Ahmad and policeman Mohammad Ayoub Gogri of Pattan.
However, police sources said that these six detained persons are not involved in the attack and they have been picked up for questioning.
