Srinagar, Dec 29: A pre-dawn low intensity quake measuring 3.2 magnitude on the Richter Scale shook the Kashmir valley today.
This is second tremor since last three days. A 6.5 magnitude earthquake jolted the State claiming two lives due to cardiac arrests three days ago.
A Meteorological department spokesman said that tremors which were felt at 5.37 am lasted for few seconds. He said its epicenter was somewhere in Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Even though there was no loss of life or major damage but a Government school building in Kangan area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district collapsed.
The primary school building, constructed in mid ’60s, already weakened, couldn’t resist the morning tremors. The locals said they had repeatedly asked officials to take measures for its repair but they paid no heed and demanded its reconstruction.
