JAMMU, Feb 28: Various KP bodies have urged the Government to make elaborate arrangements on occasion of Maha Shivratri and have a proper check on market to ensure the sale of vegetables, walnuts and other essential commodities on reasonable rates.
In a statement issued here, today Sheela Handoo, member All India BJP Mahila Morcha and Councilor, Ward No 19 Anantnag Municipal Council said that in view of coming Maha Shivratri festival the administrative measures and initiatives needed to ensure that the festival is celebrated in a befitting manner. She said the Government should ensure the supply of walnuts fresh vegetables, milk and milk products at nominal rates besides ensuring that the same are hygienic.
She said it is unfortunate that this initiative is missing this year with the result people are facing many problems as adequate arrangements have not been made this year. She urged the authorities to have a check on market and ensure all the necessary items are hygienic and sold on reasonable rates.
The Migrant Welfare Committee TRT Buta Nagar held a meeting here, today under the leadership of Ashok Dhar in which an appeal was made to Government to open stalls of walnuts, milk, flowers, vegetables etc in the TRT Buta Nagar and other migrant camps as well as non camp areas for Kashmiri Pandits during the Maha Shivratri festival so that the displaced Pandits do not face any problem in celebrating this holy festival.
The meeting also demanded that the relief and ration of March be released in advance on the eve of holy festival. The meeting also urged the Government to ensure proper water and power supply on the occasion of festival. It however complimented the Relief Commissioner, M L Raina for taking personnel interest in construction of meditation Hall and laying of water supply pipe in TRT Buta Nagar but appealed him to ensure daily water supply during festival days.
The meeting among others was attended by Hari Krishan Raina, Veer Ji Khar, Bitu Ji Koul, and Inder Ji Koul.
Meanwhile, JTC and Soan Kashmir Front president, Shadi Lal Pandita has also urged the Government to ensure power and water supply in the Jagti township on the occasion of Maha Shivratri besides, opening of stalls of walnuts and other essential commodities from March 2 to March 5. He also demanded that the relief of March be also released in advance.
