JAMMU, Sept 12: Kashmiri migrant relief holders have expressed concern over delay in payment of monthly cash assistance for the month of August to them.
In a joint statement, Sunil Pandita and Vijay Koul representatives of relief holders from Jagti township said that the nonpayment of cash relief and denial of flour quota to migrants since March this year is a cause of concern.
They said that relief holders have no source of income and they are totally dependent on meager cash doles from Government. By delaying the relief they are unable to meet their day to day expenses especially to bear the expenses of their school going children.
In an appeal to Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, they urged him to take immediate steps in releasing the relief of August by this week failing which they will be constrained to come to streets.
Meanwhile, a joint meeting of Jagti Tenement Committee, Soan Kashmir Front and PCC Migrant Cell J&K was held at Jagti township under the chairmanship of its president, Shadi Lal Pandita in which grave concern was expressed over non disbursement of cash relief of August till date.
Addressing the members Pandita said that the Relief Department has not yet deposited the monthly cash relief of relief holders for the month of August in their bank accounts due to which the relief holders are facing difficulties. Pandita urged the Government to release the cash relief for the month of August as soon as possible because the relief holders have no other source of income.
