Migrant Anganwadi workers’ delegation call on Nanda

JAMMU, July 30: A delegation of migrant Anganwadi workers here, today called on Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Sheetal Nanda and discussed the issue of non payment of their wages since 2018.
The delegation which was led by the president of the migrant workers also submitted a memorandum to her seeking immediate intervention in the matter.
The memorandum said that their honorarium for seven months of 2018, four months of 2019 besides entire year of 2019 and seven months of 2020 was not paid due to which the workers are suffering a lot and it has also added to their mental agony.
The delegation said that the migrant Anganwadi workers have been deployed in different centers at Jammu in Migrant ICDS projects and as per the Supreme Court directives they were to be paid the honorarium on regular basis. Though the workers are discharging their duties with dedication and sincerity but it is unfortunate that they have not been paid the honorarium regularly since 2018.
The delegation said that they have submitted number of representations to the concerned quarters and also brought the issue in the notice of Mission Director ICDS and other officers from time to time but to no avail.
The delegation sought immediate intervention of Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department in releasing their honorarium.
Sheetal Nanda assured sympathetic action on her part and said that she will look into the issue as why the honorarium has not been paid to these workers till date and also pass on directives to Mission Director ICDS in this regard.
