SRINAGAR, Sept 20: A MiG-21 fighter jet of Indian Air Force (IAF) today made an emergency landing at Srinagar Airport after developing a “technical snag” but the pilot was unhurt.
Sources said that the jet made the emergency landing at around 12:00 noon here today after the pilot reportedly noticed some kind of snag. They said that the runway of the airport suffered damage as the tyres of the jet burnt due to the emergency landing.
“However, the pilot ejected safely and the fire-tenders managed to save the aircraft from blaze,” said the sources, adding that the incident resulted in delaying of civilian flights to and fro Srinagar for nearly three hours as the runway was closed for aviation traffic.
