MHA review meet postponed

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, June 16: The high level meeting on Jammu and Kashmir’s security situation by Union Home Secretary LC Goyal in New Delhi, scheduled for today, was cancelled as J&K officers were unable to fly to the Union capital due to repair works at Srinagar Airport following yesterday’s tyre burst of Air India plane, which had damaged the runway.
Official sources told the Excelsior that the top officers waited for repair of Airport runway till 11 am as the meeting was scheduled for 1 pm. However, as the runway couldn’t be repaired by then, they informed the Union Home Secretary, who deferred the meeting.
The next date of the meeting will be conveyed to the State officials shortly.
Home Secretary RK Goyal, DGP K Rajendra, ADG Headquarters Dr Shesh Pal Vaid and IG CID AG Mir were scheduled to attend the high level meeting called by the Union Home Secretary for review of security arrangements in Jammu and Kashmir especially the Amarnath Yatra arrangements.
However, tomorrow’s Unified Headquarters meeting to be chaired by Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in Srinagar will be held on time.
