JAMMU, Oct 20: DDC Chairman Bharat Bhushan today assured that pending liabilities of MGNREGA works for the fiscal years 2016-17 and 2017-18 will be cleared very soon.
He gave this assurance during a public meeting here at Dansal.
The DDC Chairman said that the Government has chalked out a new strategy to avoid such a situation in the coming years. He said that to make sure that the issue of delay in payments doesn’t arise in future the Government has decided to involve all the PRI institutions in the making of budget plans. He asked the PRI members including Panchs, Sarpanchs, BDC and DDC members to play a pivotal role in making the District Budget Plan for the upcoming fiscal so that the issue of delay in payments doesn’t reoccur.
DDC Member Shameem Begum, Sarpanchs, Panchs, ADDC Jammu and other officials were also present in the public meeting.
Earlier, locals raised various public issues including the civic infrastructure, power and water supply and healthcare facilities. They apprised the DDC Chairman about erratic supply of water and power outage. They said that despite being so close to the capital city of Jammu the block is lagging in providing basic facilities to the people.
Upon this, the DDC Chairman gave directions to the officers of the line departments to pay heed towards the genuine demands of the people. Various demands were met on the spot after the intervention of the DDC Chairman. He asked the officials to ensure that routine issues should be resolved at their end only.
Bharat Bhushan appealed to all the PRI members to play their role in making the District Budget Plan 2022-23 of all the 29 departments so that the question of delay in payments doesn’t arise. He informed the meeting that soon the Government is switching over to digital transactions which will put an end to the problems like that of MGNREGA liabilities.
