Met issues yellow warning for thunderstorm, forecasts wet spell in Himachal till June 7

SHIMLA, Jun 1: The Shimla Met Office on Monday issued a yellow warning for thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds at isolated places in the state from Wednesday to Friday and predicted a wet spell till June 7.
Light to moderate rains lashed several parts of the state over the 24 hours since Sunday evening.
Sarahan received 34 mm of rain, followed by Kalpa (26.4 mm), Sangla (17.4 mm), Jubberhatti (15.2) mm, Shimla (13 mm), Kufri (12.2 mm), Dhaulakuan (11 mm), Pooh (10.4 mm), Jatton Barrage (10.2 mm), Poanta Sahib (8.4 mm), Tabo (7 mm), Solan (6.8 mm), Khoksar (6.3 mm) and Rohru and Manali 5 mm each.
Amid the showers, state capital Shimla witnessed fog and visibility reduced to a few metres, officials said.
On the temperature front, Kukumseri was coldest at night, recording a low of 4.3 degrees Celsius, while Una was hottest during the day with a high of 37.2 degrees Celsius.
Himachal Pradesh received 210.3 mm rainfall during the pre-monsoon season from March 1 to May 31, against a normal rainfall of 240.7 mm, registering a 13 per cent deficit. (Agencies)
