JAMMU, July 20: The police registered an FIR against a Village Numberdar Gohlad and 28 others for their alleged involvement in group clash over the issue of appointment of a Imam of a local mosque.
While one group favoured the man of their choice the other group wanted to install their own man as Imam of the mosque. The first party has already lodged an FIR against 27 persons five days back, the police today entertained the FIR of the second party only with the intervention of the court.
SDPO Mendhar Shahid Nahim claimed that counter FIR No. 110/ 2016 under Sections, 382, 323, 504, 195, 366, 147 and 506 RPC has been registered against 29 persons. The police parties are conducting raids to arrest the accused persons. He said a village Numberdar has also been booked in this case. The police will try to resolve the issue which has taken ugly turn in last one week.
