SRINAGAR, July 20: Express-ing satisfaction over sufficient stock of foodgrains available in the State, Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali has issued instructions for 100 percent distribution of foodgrains of July quota till the end of this month.
The Minister chaired separate meetings on progress made in the implementation of e-PDS, storage capacity of existing godowns in the State and CAG report for the year 2013-14.
The meeting was attended by Secretary CAPD Shafiq Raina, Inspector General of Police Traffic Viplav Kumar, General Manager Food Corporation of India Kishore Kumar, Managing Director SRTC GM Sufi, Director CA&PD Kashmir Peerzada Mushtaq Shah, Director CAPD Jammu GS Chib and other senior officers of the Department.
Issuing strict instructions to complete the process of distribution of ration of July by the end of this month, the Minister also instructed FCI to complete lifting process of foodgrains by 25th of the month so that CAPD department is able to ensure 100 percent distribution. He instructed FCI to improve lifting process and coordinate with the departmental officers so that no ration issue is created in the State.
Setting deadline for online allocation management, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali directed the department to complete the process of online allocation by August 15. He said that this will bring more efficiency in the department.
To make employees conversant with computer knowledge, the Minister directed for organizing workshops for training of Assistant Directors and Tehsil Supply Officers of the department so that e-PDS is implemented in true spirit. On bringing more transparency through e-PDS, Minister issued instructions for completing installation of PoS machines within 2 months. He said that this machine will bring big reforms in the distribution system and will help in bringing complete transparency in the department.
During the meeting, the Minister instructed drafting of 3 months advance ration allocation calendar. He said that the calendar will be applicable from October 1, 2016 and each district will get 3 months advance ration according to the fixed calendar.
Taking review of the transportation of foodgrains, the Minister issued instructions to IG Traffic to allow vehicles of loaded essential commodities on National Highway so that people in Valley do not face any problem. IG Traffic assured the Minister that no vehicle carrying essential commodities will be stopped by Traffic Police anywhere and they are already trying for smooth movement of essential commodities into every parts of Valley.
