Members of various trade bodies protest against Modi Govt

JAMMU, May 23: On the call of ‘Jan Ekta Jan Adhikar Andolan, (National platform of mass, class, social and cultural organisations, groups and progressive individuals), staged a massive  protest demonstration at Press Club here today.
Leaders of various social organizations like workers trade unions, teachers’ association, Kissan Tehreek, Banks and Insurance associations,  Dalits’ association, women and youth etc. attended the protest program. Om Parkash,  general secretary State CITU while addressing the gathering said that in spite of the massive struggles against many Governments’ move like the land acquisition ordinance, pro- employer labour law reforms, anti- national privatization of strategic public sector including the defence and railways, budgets cuts on social sector allocations, denial of MSP to peasantry at the rate of 50% above cost of production and  implementation of Swami Nathan recommendations and comprehensive loan waiver, rampant commercialization of health and education sector etc. the BJP led NDA Government is ruthlessly following the pro-corporate and anti- people neo-liberal  economic policies.
He said ‘Jan Ekta Jan Adhikar Andolan’ platform covers more than 20 crore people represented by more than 100 organizations will launch a series of struggles with the slogan “either the Government changes its policies or people will change the Government”. He also highlighted the issue of Rehri- Fadi workers of Jammu and strongly demanded to rehabilitate the vendors at the earliest.
Sham Parsad Kesar  senior CITU leader said that four years of NDA Government has devastated the lives of all sections of the tolling people and none of its promise to the people had been fulfilled. Modi had promised ” Sab Ka Vikas” (development of all) but the vikas was for only a chosen few corporate companies, he added.
Further, he said in 2014 BJP claimed in its manifesto to provide two crore employment per year to youth  but even two lakh jobs per year was not created in the last four years as a result unemployment is at its high since independence.
Rajesh Gupta, Ashwani Pardan, Kishore Kumar, Sewa Bhagat, Banarsi Dass, Hari Singh, Romesh Chand, Jia Lal, Raj Kumar,  Sunita Bhagat, Geeta,  Om Prkash, Ashok Kumar also addressed the gathering.
