SRINAGAR : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today thanked Leader of Opposition and National Conference (NC) working president Omar Abdullah for shunning his political differences and supporting her decision of not immediately forming the government after the demise of her father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
“I would like to thank Mr Abdullah for supporting me when everyone was criticizing me for not forming the government. He (Omar) despite being in the opposition asserted that I should be given time to mourn my father’s death,” Ms Mufti said at the end of her speech on Motion of Thanks on Governor’s address in the Legislative Assembly here.
Mr Abdullah, who visited ailing former chief minister at a New Delhi hospital where he was being treated, had said Ms Mufti should be given time to mourn the death of her father.
The leader of the opposition had also accompanied the body of the leader from Delhi to Srinagar. (AGENCIES)
