JAMMU, Jan 17: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today launched the Mobile Bank and AEPS (Adhaar Enabled Payment System) of the Jammu & Kashmir Bank here today. The mobile application has been specifically designed to cater to the needs of the customers of the State.
The inauguration was part of the Digi Dhan Mela held here today.
Digi Dhan is an initiative of the Central Government which enables a direct interface between consumers and merchants to undertake real time digital transactions through the Digi Dhan Bazaar.
The Chief Minister also gave away awards to several individuals and officials who have done pioneering work in spreading awareness about cashless and digital transactions among the masses.
A video presentation by NITI Ayug on cashless transactions was also displayed on the occasion.
Present on the occasion were Union Minister of State, PMO and DoNER, Dr. Jitendra Singh; Union Minister of State for Finance, Arun Ram Meghwal; Minister for Finance, Dr. Haseeb A. Drabu; Minister for IT, Moulvi Imran Raza Ansari and Minister of State for Planning & Finance, Ajay Nanda.
Besides Chief Secretary, B. R. Sharma; Principal Secretary, IT, R. K. Goyal; Chairman, JK Bank, Parvez Ahmad; Advisor, Niti Ayug, Dr. Manoj Singh; celebrities, Javed Jaffery and Lt. Col. Randhir Jamwal, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Simrandeep Singh, representatives from various banking and financial institutions, officers and a large number of people were also present on the occasion.
