JAMMU, Mar 20: Accusing BJP of pushing the country towards another division on religious lines, PDP president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today urged Jammu people to stop march of divisive forces.
“Jinnah divided this country in the past but they (BJP) want to divide us again. Mahatma Gandhi was killed by Godse but today his ideology is being targeted by so many like Godse,” she said while addressing workers meeting in R S Pura town today.
Urging people not to allow another division and Gandhi (his ideology) to be killed again, Mehbooba Mufti asked Jammu people to stop the march of divisive forces like BJP so that sacrifices of Bhagat Singh may not go waste. Click here to watch video
“They (BJP) will not be successful in Kashmir where they have no takers except a handful of their paid agents holding the party flag, but in Jammu which has been home to all religions and accepted everyone irrespective of faith, responsibility lies on the people here to stand up and take on communal forces,” she exhorted.
Claiming that Jammu is facing maximum brunt after abrogation of Article 370, the PDP chief questioned the Government claims of development and peace in J&K after August 5, 2019.
“What change BJP has brought here in the last four years of its direct rule in J&K? What did they do for you except rendering people jobless and snatching business from the locals?” she said, adding that youth have been pushed into hopelessness as they have to now compete with outsiders for jobs here.
Mehbooba Mufti alleged that the Government withdrew the posts advertized prior to August 5, 2019 to allow the outsiders from all over India to apply for these positions.
“If the Chief Ministers of Haryana and Himachal Pradesh can assert that the State jobs are meant for locals only, why not jobs here should be exclusively for J&K youth?” she asked, alleging that those who raise their voice for people are dubbed anti-nationals. “Muslims are declared as Pakistanis, Hindus as anti-nationals and Sikhs as Khalistanis by these fascist forces,” she added.
The PDP leader alleged that Jammu people were being misled by BJP on its anti-people decisions like abrogation of Article 370, ending Darbar Move practice etc in the name of setting Kashmir right. “They did not set Kashmir right but extensively damaged Jammu where lands are being vacated from locals to settle outsiders and control everything,” she said.
Reiterating that BJP ruined the country and started its clandestine designs with Jammu and Kashmir where the situation is much worse than the rest of the country, the PDP leader said: “The existence of Jammu and Kashmir is in danger under the BJP and the youths have a greater responsibility as the coming generations will question their stand in the face of the BJP’s onslaught on their identity and culture,” she said, adding that the PDP cannot take this fight to a logical end alone and the youths will have to come forward to play a decisive role.
The PDP chief also praised Jawahar Lal Nehru saying his vision steered India on the path of development and prosperity unlike present regime which has only one agenda of division.
