RAMBAN, Dec 1: Special Secretary Planning Development & Monitoring Department (PD&MD), K.S Chib today visited Ramban town for physical verification of developmental projects, besides interacting with the public representatives and people here. He also interacted with the Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam and discussed various issues in the planning and development sectors.
Focusing on achieving the indicators as per parameters prescribed by the Government for saturation of all developmental, social and job oriented schemes under Jan Abhiyan as a part of ‘My Town My Pride’ Phase-2 District Administration Ramban organised a mega awareness programme at Ramban.
President, Municipal Council, Ramban, Sunita Sumbria and Special Secretary PD & MD jointly presided over the awareness event attended by the Councillors of Municipal Council and prominent citizens.
He also discussed various issues pertaining to the development of Ramban town with public representatives, besides sensitising the participants about measures taken by the government to fulfil the developmental requirements of the town under different sectors.
The Special Secretary also sensitized the participants, especially students about Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and Traffic Rules, besides asking them to avoid drug addiction and traffic rule violations to enjoy a healthy and safe life. He also highlighted the benefits of various Government schemes launched for the welfare and development of the people.
Earlier, the Special Secretary along with concerned officers also conducted physical verification of various developmental works at Ramban, Banihal and Batote towns executed by the various departments under different sectors and schemes including Maitra Park developed by the Floriculture Department, lane and drainages and other developmental projects constructed by the Municipal Council Ramban, besides 1500 LPM Oxygen Generation Plant at District Hospital, Ramban.
Meanwhile, as part of activities under “My Town My Pride” (MTMP), a mega Jan Abhiyaan function was conducted at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Kaloosa in Bandipora.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmed was chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that as part of the program, various services of different departments are being provided to the people in Municipalities at their doorsteps along with organisation of multifaceted activities.
He further mentioned that the thrust is to ensure that the benefits of different Govt schemes and programmes percolate to the beneficiaries in the urban areas, more effectively.
Highlighting the importance of Shehri Jan Abhiyaan, the DC said that the programme is aimed to assess the issues of the public at grassroots level and redress the same.
Deliberating upon the ill effects of pollution and Single Use Plastic (SUP), Dr. Owais said that people have to act judiciously to stop the use of SUP and prevent its ill effects and urged people to properly use dustbins and take other preventive measures for proper disposal of waste.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr Basharat Qayoom today conducted an extensive tour of MCs of Pahalgam, Aishmuqam, Seer, Mattan and Anantnag and reviewed various activities being undertaken under the flagship Shehri Jan Abhiyan being held as a prelude to the ‘My Town My Pride’ programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the Shehri Jan Abhiyan has been organized to spread awareness among the people regarding various government initiatives in place for the welfare of the citizens and planned development of urban areas. He said that there is a parallel focus on ensuring green development with special emphasis on maintaining the ecological balance.
Dr Basharat said that all departments have been directed to ensure vigorous participation in the program and have been assigned tangible targets. He said that the performance of each department is being evaluated and exhorted the District Officers to ensure that the assigned tasks are implemented on ground in letter and spirit.
The DC said that inputs of the public under the overall supervision of PRI members and in consultation with the departments will be the basis of formulation of resource mobilization plans. He said that ground level inputs will be instrumental for formulation of realistic and prioritized resource mobilization plans which will then be executed smoothly.
Laying special emphasis on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the DC said that the threat posed by drugs is real and has the potential of harming the social fabric. He said that the strategy for eliminating drug abuse leverages the critical role to be played by parents, teachers and peers in preventing youth from falling into this trap.
The DC also distributed land passbooks among the beneficiaries and said that people should come forward and benefit from the live demonstrations being provided at CSC camps so that they can check records from the comfort of their homes. He also participated in the plantation drive at MC Aishmuqam.
