SRINAGAR, Mar 10: Doctors in the Valley have asked the Government to immediately sack Director Health Services, Kashmir, for his involvement in drug kits scam, as State Vigilance Organization has registered a criminal case bearing FIR No 32/2012 against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act for his involvement.
Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) today in a statement said it is shocking that despite involvement of Dr Saleem-u-Rehman, Director Health Services Kashmir in drug kits scam, he continues to be on his position.
“The Government has no justification to continue him on his position. The verification conducted by vigilance organization has prima-facie established that the purchase of drug kits by Dr Saleem in the year 2011 was in violation of the conditions of supply order and guidelines of government,” said DAK spokesman Dr Dr Riyaz Daga.
He claimed that the majority of drug kits were purchased from a particular private firm whereas in supply order it was mandatory that all drugs should be supplied by Central Pharmaceutical Subsidiary Enterprises (CPSE’s).
“Several drugs which were purchased were not included in the approved list of 103 medicines that against the purchase preference policy (PPP) of Government of India,” he claimed, adding, the director in order to facilitate the commission of crime constituted a purchase committee on his own ignoring the Central purchase committee/ subcommittee already constituted by Government for the purpose.
