JAMMU, July 21: Work remained paralyzed for some time in the Directorate of Health and others Health Department offices as the Medical employees held a token strike for two hours across the Jammu division for extending their support to the agitating Female Multipurpose Health Workers, who are without salary for the last 18 months.
Protest demonstrations, organized under the banner of Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees Federation, were held right from Kathua to Lakhanpur, Poonch-Rajouri to Doda, Samba, Reasi, Udhampur, Kishtwar, Ramban to Banihal.
At Jammu, a number of Medical employees assembled in DHS Complex and raised slogans for release of salary of FMPHWs, working under 2211 Family Welfare Scheme.
While addressing the gathering, JKMEF president Sushil Sudan urged the authorities to take urgent steps for release of salary of the employees working under 2211 Family Welfare, who are virtually at the verge of starvation.
He accused the authorities of victimizing the FMPHWs of Kathua district, who have been transferred to far flung area and demanded revocation of their transfer order. In case salary of the FMPHWs is not released at the earliest, the JKMEF will be forced to start a vigorous agitation in the shape of indefinite strike, he warned.
At Kathua, the strike was held under the leadership of Balkar Singh, Surinder Sharma, Narinder Tony and Rajesh Bala.
Similarly, the strike was led by Manzoor Hussain, Kamla Devi, Yash Paul Sharma and Bagh Ali at Samba; Rakesh Bakshi, Jaswinder Singh and Pawan Gupta at Gandhi Nagar Hospital; Rakesh Kumar Polu, Tejinder Singh and Devinder Raina at Sarwal Hospital, Sham Prashar, Ashwani Khajuria, Mahima Devi, J D Sharma, Nancy Bhan at Udhampur; Abdul Hamid Bhatt, Bhanu Sharma, Manmohan Singh, Lalita Devi at Reasi; Mohd Akhter, Irshad, Farooq Ahmad and Partap Singh at Ramban.
