JAMMU, May 9: In continuation of its series of protests dharnas and meetings in every block of the State, medical employees today held one day dharna in the premises of SDH Basohli in Kathua district under the leadership of JKMEF State president Sushil Sudan.
The protesting employees raised slogans in support of their demands and demanded early settlement of all pending issues.
They demanded that DPC be cleared at par with Government Medical College/Drug & Food Control Organization on the pattern of Executive Order passed by the Administrative Department till the SRO-20 (Recruitment Rules) is modified. Further all the promotions be made strictly in accordance to the seniority.
The other demands highlighted by them included amendment of SRO 20 dated 24-02-1992 which is pending since more than 15 years be implemented without further delay, permanent solution of Salary Head 2211-Family Welfare as the salary of the employees working under 2211 Head is pending for more than six months, upgradation of the posts of Pharmacists as Senior Pharmacist, Superintendent pharmacist, Head Pharmacist, Block Pharmacy Officers and District Pharmacy Officer.
The Federation further demanded the F.T.A of field staff (Malaria/Leprosy) be enhanced from Rs. 45/- to Rs.1000/- per month, Risk Allowance be given to all non gazetted employees working in Health and Family Welfare Department, promotion of Female Multipurpose Health Workers who are trained LHVs in New OHCs and 50% quota should be fixed for promotion as health educators and rank promotion should be given to FMPHWs at par with pharmacists, laboratory, dental technicians and others, removal of pay anomalies in the pay scale of ministerial staff and other categories.
The Federation also highlighted host of other demands and demanded their immediate settlement.
While addressing the dharna Sushil Sudan said that the Medical Employees Federation has been forced to start peace full struggle to get its long pending demands addressed. He threatened to intensify the struggle if no action was taken on their genuine demands.
A new unit was constituted which included Romesh Mankotia as president Som Dutt Dubey as senior vice president, Shikha (vice president) Ankit Kumar and Shital Parshad both (general-secretaries) Natasha (organiser), Joginder Kumar (cashier) Rohit Bharti, Dhiraj Singh, Sanjeev Vikas(BHW), Rajinder Kumar(S/W) Pardeep Kumar, Robin(S/W) as executive members.
Others who addressed the protest dharna included Manjeet Singh general secretary JKMEF, Neeraj Malagar president, JKMEF Kathua, Romesh Mankotia block president Basohli, Som Dutt Dubey, Shital Parshad, Dhiraj Singh and Ankit Kumar.
