JAMMU, Feb 12: A deputation of Mechanical Engineering fraternity today called on Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control Department, Sham Lal Choudhary here today and projected their issues before him.
The delegation led by Firdous Bhat (President JKMEGA) and accompanied by Narinder Singh (vice president) BB Sharma, Rakesh Bhatti, Mohinder Singh Manhas, Niyaz Bhat and Vinod Kumar during meeting apprised the Minister about the role and the issues of Mechanical Engineers in the department. The delegation stressed upon the minister about the proper utilisation of the services these engineers for meeting the future challenges of J&K State as the natural source/water table is depleting with a pace. They also apprised the Minister about widening the scope of Mechanical fraternity in PHE, I&FC Deptt for supplying the drinking water to every common man and to cover the uncovered areas of Irrigation Department for faster development of State.
The delegation also expressed the urgent need for creation and expansion of Mechanical Divisions/ Sub-Divisions in both PHE and Irrigation wings of the Department as there is only one Mechanical Division for almost every four districts on an average across the J&K State.
They also requested the Minister for creation of Mechanical Divisions/ Sub Divisions in PHE, I&FC Deptt in Leh and Kargil districts, creation of separate posts of Chief Engineer Hydraulic (Mechanical) in PHE, I&FC Department one each for Jammu & Kashmir Divisions as it will bring better and effective public deliverance.
The delegation also stressed upon the Minister about the need for the creation of full fledged Dredging Division across the length of river Jhelum as in today’s mechanised world it is important to utilise the modern machinery to save time and money. The Minister was also requested to fulfill all vacant posts of Mechanical Engineers at all levels.
The delegation hailed the Minister for giving a patient hearing to all the problems pertaining to Mechanical fraternity and for his positive attitude for the resolution of these issues.
