JAMMU, Aug 21: The Mayors of Srinagar and Jammu Municipal Corporations have been granted status equivalent to that of Minister of State (MoS).
This was stated in an official order issued today by the General Administration Department (GAD).
“Sanction has been accorded to the grant of status equivalent to Minister of State to the Mayors of Srinagar Municipal Corporation and Jammu Municipal Corporation within their territorial jurisdiction,’’ the order said.
It added that the Hospitality and Protocol Department will make necessary insertion in the Jammu and Kashmir State Warrant of Precedence.
BJP leader Chander Mohan Gupta is the Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation while People’s Conference leader Junaid Mattu is the Mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation.
