Mayor reviews Tawi Artificial Lake project

JAMMU, June 11: JMC Mayor, Chander Mohan Gupta here today chaired a meeting of engineers of various departments and took stock of development activities for beautification of Jammu city.
The meeting was attended by Vinod Gupta, Chief Engineer PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control; Executive Engineers & Assistant Executive Engineers of Irrigation Department and Anil Gupta, AEE/Nodal Officer, JMC.
In meeting, the Mayor was informed that the firm involved in construction of artificial lake on Tawi intentionally delayed the task and ultimately the contract was canceled.
He was also informed that after intervention of Advisor (S) to the Governor, a revised DPR was framed in which Rs. 51.57 crore shall be required to complete the project and Rs 4.97 crore will be required to restore the damages suffered due to floods till date. The cost shall be finalized after inputs of designed aspect by IIT Roorkee.
The Mayor assured to take the matter with Governor so that the DPR can be approved at an earliest and work can be taken up as soon as possible.
The Mayor asked the engineers that all the major projects in pipeline should also be completed within stipulated time period.
