Mayor, others lay foundation stone of e-rickshaw charging stations

JAMMU, June 30: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Mayor, Chander Mohan Gupta along with Purnima Sharma, Deputy Mayor; Narinder Singh Jamwal, Chairman Health & Sanitation Committee; Yash Pal Sharma; Chairman Swacch Bharat Committee; Kuldeep Singh, Chairman Social Justice Committee and Amit Gupta, Councillor Ward 19 here today laid foundation stone of e-rickshaws charging stations at Municipal land in Dogra Chowk near Jewel.
Anil Gupta, Executive Engineer; Neeraj Vaid, Assistant Executive Engineer; K.K Bali, Junior Engineer; other supervisory staff of Project Division JMC; Talat Mahmood I/C Chief Transport Officer along with field staff of Transport Wing and prominent citizens of Ward 19 were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said during the last three years JMC has initiated a number of steps under Swacch Bharat Mission to keep Jammu City neat, clean and green.
He said that foundation stone of much needed project for charging e-rickshaws has been laid today which is first of its kind in Jammu city with an estimate cost of Rs 22 lakh and it will be completed within three months.
He said, about 30 e-rickshaws will be engaged for garbage collection in the first phase especially in different Wards of old city for providing better sanitation facilities to the citizens.
Gupta said that more such charging stations will be installed in other zones of the city in near future.
Later, the Mayor along with Rajinder Singh Jamwal, Councillor Ward 39, Prabhat Singh Jamwal, senior BJP leader; Balwant Singh and other prominent inhabitants of the Ward as well as S. Kamal Pal Singh, Junior Engineer PWD toured the Ward and started remaining work of blacktopping of roads and nearby lanes in Shanti Nagar.
The Mayor along with prominent inhabitants of Ward 33 and Hira Lal Khajuria, sanitary inspector and concerned sanitary supervisor and field staff visited Shiv Nagar and listened public problems.
