JAMMU, Dec 30: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Mayor, Chander Mohan Gupta here today inaugurated Garbage Transfer Station near Bhagwati Nagar.
Advocate Purnima Sharma, Deputy Mayor; Satpal Karlupia, Councillor Ward 32; Parmod Kapahi, Councillor Ward 14; S. Sucha Singh, Councillor Ward 31; Sahil Sharma, Rajesh Saini, S. Gurcharan Singh and other prominent locals of Bhagwati Nagar, Puran Nagar and its adjoining localities were also present on the occasion along with JMC engineers and other supervisory staff and the concerned contractor.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor said that first part of the Garbage Collection Station has already been completed and with the sincere efforts of concerned Councillors and JMC Engineers the much needed 2nd part of this prestigious project which is a part of ‘Sawchch Bharat Mission’ has been completed today with an estimate cost of Rs. 22 lakh.
He said that work for construction of 3rd part of Garbage Collection Station will also be started soon.
He further said that JMC is planning to develop some more such stations in other Wards at suitable locations where solid wastes will be collected, compacted and then transferred to procession plant near Kot Bhalwal for final processing.
The Mayor said that these garbage transfer stations will play an important role in overall solid waste management of Jammu city.
