JAMMU, Dec 17: Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Chander Mohan Gupta, along with Commissioner, JMC, Pankaj Magotra and Vice Chairman (VC), Jammu Development Authority (JDA), Pawan Singh Rathore today toured the areas of Maheshpura (Bakshi Nagar) and met with the aggrieved kiosk owners.
The kiosk owners, who were sitting on protest there, while interacting with the Mayor, alleged that their khokas in which they were running business for last 20 years, were dismantled/broken by the authorities without any formal notice.
They said after dismantling of their khokas, they have become unemployed and there is no source of livelihood left behind for them. The aggrieved kiosk owners appealed the Mayor to rehabilitate them at the earliest.
Chander Mohan Gupta listened to their genuine grievances and then directed the concerned officers of JMC and JDA that they should be allowed to carry on their business by making temporary kiosks with pre-fabricated sheds in a uniform and phased manner at their own cost in the vacant land of JDA at Maheshpura Matador Stand.
The aggrieved kiosks owners of Maheshpura Chowk assured the Mayor that they will follow the guidelines of the JMC & JDA and will keep their articles within their premises to avoid any traffic congestion in the area.
The Mayor once again appeals the shopkeepers of Jammu city to cooperate with JMC and keep their belongings within their shutters line and allow the pedestrians and vehicles to move freely in the city and make Jammu neat, clean and green.
