JAMMU, Feb 27: Continuing the drive to provide better development & basic amenities to the residents of Jammu city, Chander Mohan Gupta Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today conducted an extensive tour of Shakti Nagar area of Ward No.29 along with Surinder Chowdhary Councilor of the Ward and kick started the construction work of lanes and drains of Street No.12 Shakti Nagar which was in bad condition and has been broken at various spots as this is the thoroughfare and residents especially school going children and old persons were facing a lot of hardships while passing through this lane.
The construction work will be completed at the estimate cost of Rs. 2.12 lacs by the Engineering Wing of JMC with the quality material & within stipulated time period as stated by Mayor. Atul Bakshi, Youth BJYM president, Suresh Gupta , Pawan Sharma, Rakesh Bari, Suresh Verma, Anju Gupta, Shakeel Ahmed and other prominent inhabitants of Shakti Nagar, R.K Bhatt JE, concerned contractor & other field staff were also present during the tour.
Later, Mayor also visited Narwal area along with Arun Gupta Executive Engineer, Anil Gupta, AEE & other field staff of various section of JMC and inspected the Municipal land at Narwal and representatives of shopkeeper Association Narwal. Residents of the locality were also present during the tour. Mayor asked the Engineering Wing to preserve water bodies at Narwal by properly fencing the area, fixing of two entry gates, construction of proper pathways, laying of cemented slabs around the old, holy and traditional Peepal trees on these sites to make this prestigious water body clean, green and eco friendly by planting more and more saplings in and around the area. Mayor told the gathering that JMC is doing its best to preserve all the water bodies in various parts of Jammu in a smooth manner.
He also appealed to the general public to come forward and cooperate with JMC in various development activities, identify other water bodies available within the jurisdiction of Jammu so that these be preserved & maintained in a proper manner to make the city eco friendly & pollution free.
