JAMMU, Jan 25: Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation in presence of Vikram Randhawa, Ex-MLC and Neena Gupta, Councillor of Ward No. 50 today kick started the construction work of drains in Sector No 7 of Ward No. 50 Channi Himmat area here.
Arun Gupta, Executive Engineer, Raj Kumar, Assistant Executive Engineer and other field staff of Engineering Section and Health Section of JMC, concerned contractor as well as Ashok Kumar, Poonam Gupta, Kamlesh Magotra, Trishla and other prominent inhabitants of the Ward were also present during the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor said that it was the long pending demand of the locals as the drains in the area were in dilapidated condition since long and the residents especially the elders and school going children were facing a lot of problems while moving through these lanes and now the work has been started by the efforts of the concerned Councillor with an estimate cost of Rs 3 lakh
Mayor further said that all the remaining development works of the Ward will be taken up on priority basis as the Jammu Municipal Corporation has already taken up the job from the last two years after coming into existence in the year November 2018. He said more than 70,000 LED street lights in each corner of the Jammu have been installed, commissioning of open air gyms in various parks, installation of beautiful fountains in various rotaries of the city and start up of various other projects in collaboration with other allied departments which were laying in pipeline from the last many years.
He appealed to the general public to come forward and cooperate with Jammu Municipal Corporation in ensuring overall development activities undertaken in Jammu city. He also urged upon the locals of the area to avoid single use plastics/polythenes in routine work, do not throw debris, garbage etc in the drains, lanes & nallahas, adopt the habit of segregation of dry & wet garbage at their own level, plant more and more saplings in and around their surroundings where sufficient space is available so that Jammu can be made neat, clean, green & beautiful city.
