Mayor kick starts development works

JAMMU, July 18: Continuing his endeavour to provide better development as well civic amenities to the citizens of Jammu, Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor accompanied by Advocate Purnima Sharma, Deputy Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation, Ajay Gupta councillor of Ward No.52 today kick started the construction work of deep drain at Mohalla Royal Enclave Extension, Trikuta Nagar of Ward No.52. Sanjay Gupta (cashier Sanatan Dharam Sabha), Nitin Thapa, Amit Singh, Anil Gupta, Rakesh Singh, Deepu Kumar prominent inhabitants of the Mohalla along with others as well as Sunil Kumar Sharma, Executive Engineer, Khalid Iqbal I/C Assistant Executive Engineer of Engineering division II JMC, concerned contractor were also present.
Mayor while speaking on the occasion said that this was the long pending demand of the inhabitants of this particular area and Councilor of the Ward have put great efforts in getting the execution work of this development work sanctioned from the Department. Mayor further said due to non–existence of drain near famous Jagannath Puri, Bharat Mata temple where large number of devotees come to pay obeisance of these temples have to suffer a lot as waste water of various households overflows on the main passing lanes and creates unhygienic condition in the locality.
Mayor further said that construction of this deep drain will be executed at the estimate cost of Rs. 12.00 lakh only and directed the concerned engineering wing to complete the work with good quality material, up to the satisfaction of councilor as well as locals and within the stipulated time period. Inhabitants of the locality complimented the Mayor and Deputy Mayor for visiting their area and also requested them for engaging more Safai Karam Charis in their Ward which is largely extended as well as rectification of defunct street lights. Both the dignitaries listened to them with patience and assured that all their remaining grievances will be redressed shortly and requested the public to avail the benefit of door to door garbage collection by paying requisite user charges against proper Government receipt, adopt the habit of segregation of dry and wet waste, plant more and more saplings in and around their locality, refrain from using polythenes & single used plastics and cooperate with JMC in making Jammu city neat, clean and green.
